Choosing the Right Camping Generator

Choosing the Right Camping Generator

Back in the old day’s people liked to go camping with only the bare essentials. A tent and a sleeping bag were more than enough to head out for a night of enjoying the great outdoors. Now-a-days people like to include a few more creature comforts with their camping gear. Microwaves, refrigerators and televisions are among the many household appliances that people like to incorporate into their camping excursion.

If you plan on running electronics during your camping trip, then you’re going to have a tough time unless you come equipped with a portable generator. Generators allow you to power several small appliances at the same time and they run on simple gasoline. But what type of generator is right for you? Before you run out and buy the first unit you see, take some time to determine the size, style, and wattage of generator that will work best for you.

The most important factor to consider when buying a generator is the wattage. In order to determine how many watts you will need, simply add up the combined wattage of all of the electrical appliances that you plan to run simultaneously during your trip. Take that number and purchase a generator that has wattage of 25-30% higher than you require. This will help make sure that your generator can accommodate all of your appliances safely during your trip. RV’s can’t go everywhere. For the overnight camping trip, portable generators are a perfect way to power up your camping trip.

Aside from that you’ll just need to shop around until you find a generator that runs at a volume that is acceptable for you. Some portable generators run much louder than others, so be sure to ask a sales representative before making a final purchase. If you keep these thoughts in mind while shopping, then you should have no problem finding the perfect generator for your camping trip.

What A Day

June 29, 2008

What a day it has been, first a fire in the woods behind the rv park, what a mess, one of the fire trucks got stuck, but Del Norte Fire Dept did a great job getting under control and put out.

Then I met a feller riding a bike cross country. Mike is riding the west, he is camping here in the park resting waiting on a bike part, he's from California. He is a history teacher, I love history so we talk for a while about history, fun subject. He has a web site called www.hudsonbiketour.com Check it out and read about his travels and see the pictures he has taken, the rattlesnake was a good one.

I am having a little break from the big headaches, I seem to have a infection around the shunt tube in my neck, hopefully it will pass, I have been running a little fever.
